The description is the important field. It is shown to everyone browsing the wiki and rendered into the prompt that files incoming sources — so write it as an instruction about what belongs here, not just a definition.

Kind

Most new categories are content types. Pick that unless you are naming a kind of thing (entity) or a kind of link (relation).

Name

How the category is titled everywhere in the wiki.

Slug

The stable identifier stored on every page in this category. Lowercase, hyphens. Leave blank to derive it from the name — and choose carefully, because it can't be changed afterwards.

Description

Shown on the category sitemap, and given to the AI as the rule for what to file here. Concrete beats abstract: name the kinds of documents that belong, and the ones that don't.

Family

The four families group the content types so a person — and the AI filing a source — picks a family first, then a type inside it. Leave it unplaced only if none of the four fit.

Only org-scoped categories are offered to the AI when it files sources into the shared wiki.
