Mission paragraph

One canonical paragraph used in proposals, board reports, donor letters, and the Communications team's reference library. Re-review annually. Multiple length variants below — the skill picks the right one for the section it's drafting.

One sentence (use in LOI hook, cover-letter signoff)

Three sentences (use in concept paper, full-proposal exec summary)

[FILL: three sentences — what Atlas does, how Atlas does it differently than peers, what we're trying to produce at scale]

One paragraph (use in full-proposal organizational capacity section)

[FILL: one paragraph, ~80–120 words. Should include: founding year and founder (Sir Antony Fisher), the partner-network model, the four strategic priorities, current scale ($10M+ annually, ~500 partners, 100+ countries), and one sentence on what makes Atlas's approach distinctive — peer competition, local design, non-government funding.]

Don'ts

• Don't use "movement" without modifier — say "the freedom movement."
• Don't substitute "liberty" for "freedom" silently — both are in use; match the proposal context.
• Don't lead with founding history ("Founded in 1981…") — that's a history-first opening, which the proposal-factory rubric scores Fail.
• Don't claim Atlas trains partners directly in policy work — Atlas trains partner staff; partners do the policy work.
